The Short Story
Supermaggie was created by Maggie Kleinpeter. Supermaggie makes hand printed apparel for women, men and children. Our designs are inspired by wildflowers, notebook scribbles, journeys around the world, birds, bunnies and dogs. All Supermaggie items are made to order in our Austin TX studio. We can accommodate wholesale orders from 24 pieces to 24,000 or more :) We also produce seasonal and limited edition lines of greeting cards, pillows, totes, zipper pouches, felt scarves and art. The Long Story
In 2001 Maggie was living in NYC and wondering where life would take her. She was making handmade felt scarves & flowers, drawings and paintings in her studio and working as production manager at a handmade greeting card company in the Meatpacking District. Online shopping was in its infancy and as luck would have it Michael (her future business partner & husband) was working in advertising by day and learning to build websites by night. She decided to combine their unique skill sets and start an online retail store selling her handmade scarves, flowers and paintings. Maggie began showing her work at local indie markets around the city. Soon after orders began to come in, press & wholesale requests followed and Supermaggie was born.
Hand printed apparel for women & men was added to the line in 2004. Maggie began using her drawings, photos and found art to create designs for Supermaggie apparel. A children's line soon followed along with greeting cards, tote bags, pillows and other seasonal accessories.
Over the years Supermaggie has grown from a tiny online shop to a fully fledged wholesale and retail company. Supermaggie now ships products to stores and customers all over the world.
When Maggie is not running Supermaggie she is growing tomatoes in her garden, making paintings or planning her next adventure.
Having both been born in Louisiana Maggie and Michael missed the mild lovely winters and year round lush of the deep south. After many amazing wonderful years in NYC they packed up Supermaggie and headed home. Eventually they landed in beautiful hot & sunny Austin TX where they live today with their crazy adorable mutt Bunny the dog.
